Waiting can often be difficult and challenging, especially if there is no quick fix or shortcuts. It can make us anxious, afraid and frustrated.

Sometimes we may feel tired if we have been praying for something or waiting for something to happen for a long time, and may still be waiting.

Some may have been waiting months, even years. But God doesn't want us to feel disheartened, he wants us to remember that he has not forgotten us and wants us to wait on him.

David was the perfect example of a man who learned to wait on God. He was first anointed by Samuel to be King of Israel and looked forward to it. But he didn't become King of Israel until around 20 years later!

During that very long wait, he kept up his faith. He didn't doubt, nor did he give up. At times he felt discouraged, and become anxious and afraid and so wrote Psalm 27, where he expressed his feelings and learned the importance of waiting on God's time. He learned to 'be strong, take heart and wait on the Lord' (Psalm 27:14).

David used his time waiting to learn what God was trying to teach him. He developed an immense amount of patience, perseverance and knowledge. When David was King, it wasn't an easy reign, he faced so much challenges. David realised that he needed that long wait to prepare himself for it. He developed strength, wisdom and spiritual maturity so that by the time he became King, he was fully prepared, relied on God's guidance and became a man after God's heart. He enjoyed the reward from waiting on God and made history as Israel's greatest king.

We often face more struggles when we try to do things on our own and rely on ourselves. But we can't do things on our own, we need God's guidance.

God doesn't make us wait to torture us. He is waiting until we are confident and ready. God has reasons for everything and his timing is always perfect, because he knows us better than we know ourselves. He knew us and set our paths before we were born. So surely we can trust God's time and plans relating to our lives. Like David, we must learn to wait on God for his timely plan and purpose for us, which always prevails (Proverbs 19:21).

God always works for our benefit and provides us a way to endure with his awesome power.

We can never go wrong when we rely on God. He blesses all who wait for him (Isaiah 30:18).

When we wait on God, he also strengthens us. When we are down, weak or burdened, God will renew our strength to keep us going, so we won't feel tired or feel like giving up (Isaiah 40:31).

We must keep up our faith, have a positive attitude and keep trusting in God wholeheartedly.

We gain more strength as our faith increases and we will eventually see God's perfect plans fulfilled in our lives.

Continue to wait and hope on God. It will be worth the wait.

We have to nothing to lose. Remember waiting is never a waste of time.
