Hebrews 11:20-30 tells us many examples of men and women of God who relied on their faith in order to accomplish great things. This is because through faith, we can do all things. However, faith requires immense courage in order to endure the obstacles that attempt to disrupt progress and to motivate us to keep moving forward.

In order to proceed with our purpose, we will occasionally have to leave our comfort zones. It takes a lot of courage to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. It's a slow and gradual process, but once we leave it and pursue what we set out to do, we find that it gets manageable and the process gets easier.

This leap of faith is what is first needed and it is usually the most difficult because our minds are often clouded with feelings of doubt, failure or discouragement. However, God is always with us and assures us that we can do all things with His divine strength (Philippians 4:13).

Jesus encourages us to take leaps of faith and when we trust in Him, we can never fail because He can never let us down.

In Matthew 14:27-33, Jesus encouraged Peter to get out of the boat and walk towards Him on water. Peter initially did so with ease, however, note that he only started sinking when he took his eyes off of Jesus and became concerned with the wind and motions around him and so fear polluted his mind and distracted him. Jesus asked Peter why he doubted. When we doubt, we limit our faith.

It is important to keep up our faith. It helps us to leave our comfort levels and common routines, so that we feel more empowered to continue with whatever we set out to do. Taking a leap of faith to leave our comfort zone is the most difficult step, but the key ingredient is to trust and commit the step to God so that He will direct the steps that follow.

Moses took a huge leap of faith and left his comfort zone. He left his riches and luxurious life as a prince to follow his destiny in God. He would have never achieved this if he was still prince of Egypt. He needed to leave in order to spiritually grow and free the Israelites (Hebrews 11:24-27).

We all have different comfort zones, such as living in a certain area, being with friends and family, working in an office we are familiar with, etc. However, leaving it is never easy. God wants us to step into new territories as we complete our journey with Him so that we can get closer to our purpose. However, we need to let go of fear and anxieties and take the first step. Just like babies must let go of fear and attempt to walk by taking their first step in order to walk and eventually run.

When we allow God to wash away all of our fears, He will strengthen us, take hold of our right hand and guide us along the way (Isaiah 41:10).

Often, we may leave our comfort zone and wonder what to do next. However, God has that part sorted. When we remain focused on Him, He directs our paths. When we are unsure of whether to turn left or right, God will tell us which way to go (Isaiah 30:21).

God is calling us out into new ventures. There are so many things ahead of us that God wants us to reach. It is our choice to accept and trust that He will lead us all the way.

Are we paying too much attention to the things around us which cause us to fear and doubt?

Stay focused on God and step out of the boat!
