How can we define trust? Just like faith, trust is also a feeling that needs to be proven to be deemed genuine.

Trust is to have complete dependence on someone and have faith and confidence in their abilities.

Like shown in trust exercises, it's about letting go and allowing yourself to fall into someone, trusting that they will hold on to you and not let you fall.

It can be difficult to define trust in people, because we may trust a variety of people for different things. For example, we may trust to receive medical advice from a qualified doctor more than anyone else because you trust their knowledge and expertise because they had studied in that particular area. Or when we are on an aeroplane, some people never stress because they trust that the pilot knows what they are doing and will take them to their destination. While some people, who may have a phobia of flying will be on edge throughout the whole flight because they become consciously aware of the fact that they have no control over the plane, and that their lives are in the hands of someone else.

But we don't need to fear when it comes to putting our trust in God. He has more wisdom, knowledge and expertise higher than any person on earth. He is not like humans and he can never let us down. We can trust God with our lives, our plans, our future, our everything. He has good intentions for us and plans to prosper us and not harm us (Jeremiah 29:11).

Our lives are in God's hands and he will never let us go. He will always catch us when we fall and he will always be near when we need help, comfort and love. God will always handle us with care because we are so precious to him (Isaiah 43:4),

We can easily state Proverbs 3:5 ('Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding') but what does it really mean to us? How can we express it to prove to God that we genuinely trust him with our everything?

We often say we trust God with our lives, but find it difficult to let go and totally rely and depend on him.

We can say we trust God to handle our problems and complete our purpose, but we often struggle to hand over all our cares and worries to God to take control or lead us to where we want to be.

God cares about what we care about. He means it when he says that we should not worry, but instead hand all our cares and anxiety over to him (1 Peter 5:7).

He knows every detail of our whole lives, because he wants to understand us and be close to us.

He knows exactly how many hair strands are on our head (Luke 12:7). We may think that this is a very random piece of information, but If God cares about our thousands of hair strands and keeps track the ones that fall and grow, then surely he cares about the bigger things in our lives. Such as our future, our hobbies, families, friends, our stresses, struggles and current situations.

Trusting God wholeheartedly means allowing God to direct our paths even when we don't quite understand, because we must trust that God will never lead us to destruction, because his plans for us are for good and not for evil.

God already knows every detail about us, he just wants us to let him in.

When we entrust God with our lives, we will never be disappointed (Romans 10:11).

We can totally rely on God. He is our father, our defender, saviour and friend. He always has our back!
