2 Chronicles 7:14 - 'If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.'
There has been a lot of unrest in the nation, in the UK and aroun the world.
People have lost trust in their government, communities and there has been many attacks and in the streets.
It's clear that we need peace and mercy in our streets and communities.
When we pray and make our requests known to God, he provides us with ultimate peace. (Phil 4:6-7)
Prayer is very powerful and can't be underestimated. James 5:16 tells us that 'the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.'
If thats how powerful the prayer of one person is, then with the joint prayers of many people, it must be extremely powerful and have a huge effect.
We can make a difference when 'all the nations gather together and the people assemble.' - Isaiah 43:9
God did not give us a spirit of timidity to fear or shy away. But to be bold in our faith and unite together as one to make a difference with our voices and our prayers.
God hears us and responds to us whenever we call to him. It has an even bigger effect when we all pray together and keep up our faith in Him.
When we continue to pray, intercede and have faith, 'all the nations will be blessed through us.' - Galations 3:8
We pray that 'the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord' (Habakkuk 2:14), so that the people causing destruction will see the errors of their ways and stop what their doing.
We pray for mercy and forgiveness over them, because as Christ said, we should 'forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.' - Luke 23:34. We also forgive others in order to get peace, and peace is what we need right now.
It can be so easy to wish revenge on such people, especially if we have been directly affected by their chaos. But we pray that whatever thrill they seem to be getting from rioting will disappear and they will sense God's glory.
We pray that no innocent lives will be lost and the riots won't escalate further.
We also pray for the leaders of this nation, so that they will know how to respond accordingly with guidance from God.
God is the only answer and he still remains in this nation, just as he remains in our lives. We need his glory to shine.
We also pray our divine safety over all our lives.
'Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.' - Joshua 1:9
