St Valentine's Day is all about love. But there are many different types of love humans can show and receive.
There is family, friendship and romantic love, which people may only show to family members, friends, partners and those near and dear to them. However, all these types of love have limits and can fade. Some people end relationships and marriages if they fall out of love with each other.
There are divided families, where some members do not regard or have any love for their own family members.
There are even parents who can disown, neglect and abuse their own children.
However, God's love is different from human sentimental love. It has no limits; it has no end and can never fade.
It is not split into categories, nor does God divide a percentage of His love to show to certain types of people.
God only has one, powerful, unfailing love which conquers all. He shows and demonstrates it daily to every single person. This love never changes.
Not only does God show love, God IS love! Everything He does derives from His love.
This is God's nature and essence. Everything about God is love.
God demonstrated His love by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we can live through Him (1 John 4:9).
God loved us first and chose us to be holy and blameless in his sight, and in love he predestined us to be saved and adopted through Christ (1 Ephesians 1:4).
He loved us first, before we even knew Him. He loves those who don't know Him and those who don't even love Him back.
He loves does who we may perceive to be unworthy of love, the unlovable, and us sinners.
No matter what we do, God can never fall out of love with us.
God is the perfect example of everlasting and unfailing love. No type of love can compare to it.
When we know God, we know true and sincere agape love!
When we live in this love, we also live in God, and God lives in us (1 John 4:16).
The love described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 describes perfect love. 'Love is patient, love is kind...'
It is also a description of God, because God is love. When you read it, replace 'love' with 'God.' and you will find how very true the description is! This is who God is, that is how much He loves us and 'His love never fails' (1 Corinthians 13:4:8).
Christ came to show us what love is. He wants us to demonstrate and share this love with all around us.
He forgave those who persecuted Him. He was sinless, yet took our penalty for sin and died on the cross for us.
We demonstrate His love when we have patience, let go of grudges and most importantly, forgive those who wrong us.
We must share God's agape love and love others just the way God loves us. Not just loving our friends and family and those inside our close circle, but also loving those outside of it.
Love never fails = God never fails!
