We are approaching a brand new year where we may feel uncertain about what is around the corner.
You will no doubt be reflecting on the year that you just had, thinking about how fast it may have went, pondering on key events or things that may have happened in your lives or in the lives of those around you.
Next, your mind may move on to begin reflecting on the new year, what you hope it will bring or anticipating to happen.
Each year we may set goals or milestones for ourselves, however what we need to remember is that God is the one that orchestrates our steps and works with us to reach our goals, in line with His perfect and pleasing will for us.
We make our plans but the Lord determines our steps (Proverbs 16:9). We may have many ideas of what we want and we may feel pressured when looking at other people's goals or lives around us, but we all have our own, unique destinies to fulfil.
We are on a continuous journey, that is not time limited nor does it come to an end at the end of a year. It continues because God is not finished with us until we reach the goal that He set for us (Philippians 3:14).
We need to remain focused and not look for perfection as we allow our journey to progress.
Keep moving forward gradually, day by day and don't rush any steps.
The key is staying focused. The definition of focused is directing a great deal of attention towards a particular aim.
Pay attention to your journey. Don't get distracted by others who may be celebrating various milestones or accomplishments.
Don't be discouraged or deterred by setbacks or obstacles along the way.
Keep your eye on the prize and God will always lift us up and give us direction.
God is the divine navigation because Isaiah 30 tells us that whether we turn to the right or the left, we will hear a voice behind us, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (Isaiah 30:21).
We often get anxious because we cannot see the next steps. We can’t see what God is doing but we must have faith that He is always working in our lives.
Our best days are ahead of us when we put God at the centre.
Know that God has great things in store for us and He will continue whatever He started. God is not finished with us yet. He has brought us this far and won't stop halfway.
Aim to focus on God, listen to His voice and follow His steps which will always take us in the right direction.
A new year focused on God means that we will have the opportunity to continue to grow in Him, experience new ventures and receive more blessings and the desires of our hearts.
The best is yet to come. Allow God to go before you and guide each day in the New Year.
Happy New Year!
