In life, we always tend to want to rush through things and get through things quickly because we want to be somewhere else.
When we were younger we may have wanted to breeze through childhood and become an adult very quickly...
Or we often find ourselves saying things like, 'I would be happier if... or satisfied when... or if and when this happens next month, then I will be happy...
Or when Monday morning blues come, we wish the weekend would hurry up and come. Then when the weekend is over, we're back where we started, wishing the weekend will come again...
Or if we are going through a difficult situation, we wish we could just fast forward till it's all over...
But we need to go through things in order to grow and learn.
If we breezed through everything, we would not have the wisdom that we gained from yesterday, last month or last year to guide us through today.
If we keep longing for things to speed up to the future, thinking it will always be better than the present, then we would only be living life based on constant anticipation, never appreciating the time we are in now.
God has put us in the right place where we need to be, learning what we need to learn. We need to stay and endure because everything we experience today will lead us to where God needs us to be tomorrow.
Ecclesiastes 3:12 - 'I know that there is nothing better for men to be happy and do good while they live.'
Emphasis on the part where it says we should be happy 'while' we live, meaning that we should live our lives each day as it comes, not longing to breeze through and fast forward parts we don't like.
Our life is not a movie, it's a gift from God. So in every season, every day, there is a reason to rejoice and something to be thankful for.
God knows that we face difficulties and challenges every day but He wants us to enjoy life and embrace what it brings.
In Nehemiah 8:12, he says 'Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks... This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'
We should enjoy every part of life, we shouldn't always want to fast forward through the difficult parts, because God will give us the strength we need to get through each difficult or stressful day we go through.
We must remember that regardless of what we are going through, every day is a gift from God.
Psalm 118:24 says 'This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.'
The challenge for us every day is to find something to rejoice about.
When we embrace each day we live, God brings us joy, because 'Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.' (Psalm 97:11)
This is the day that the Lord has made! :)
